Costa Rica For the month of July, in 2003, I decided to visit a permaculture farm in Uvita, Costa Rica. In exchange for cheaper rates, I agreed to work 20 hours per week on various projects around the farm. This was advantageous as I could use the experience to learn more about organic farming and permaculture. The farm, Cascada Verde, is owned by an eccentric German guy named Patrick. For 10 years he, along with the help of other volunteers, have built a pretty decent farm. The view from the casa is amazing, overlooking the jungle and the ocean. For more information visit Patrick's website.

Joshua Tree In March 2002, some friends and I roadtripped from Mount Vernon Washington to Joshua Tree California for some early season rock climbing. Once we left the ice/snow storm of the NW... we were on our way. In J-Tree we met up with a few other people who flew into Palm Springs. We were there for about a week. We climbed, hiked, relaxed, and attempted a rescue effort for our friend who got lost overnight in the harsh desert (sub freezing temperatures). After assuming she was dead, she was found walking out of the south end of the park by some rangers the next morning. Great news!!! The trip back was a little stressful as it snowed ALL-THE-WAY from Las Vegas into Washington State.

Roadtrip Florida - Winter 2000 I took these on my return trip from Florida. I only planned on staying for the day, but ended up camping there for three nights. I saw my first raven here, they were all over. Looking out from the rim, the canyon looks like a brilliant lifesize painting. These pictures don't even begin to do it justice.

Todos Santos, Mexico My friend Aaron took most of these pictures on our trip down to Todos Santos, which is located on the Pacific side of southern Baja. While there we relaxed, ate alot of really good food, hiked 3 miles at 3 in the morning to a bar which was about to close, and even happened upon a hidden drug stash while snorkelling.

Elwah River - November 1999 My friend Eric and I went on a three day hike into the Olympic Rain Forest up by Port Angeles. Overall we hiked about 28 miles, most of it in the rain. The rain forests are great... at any moment you expect to see a small gnome or maybe an elf peek out from underneath the canopy of green moss. We didn't see any elves or gnomes, but we did see a herd of roughly thirty bull elk dash across the trail we were hiking on the second day. These three pictures were taken at the beginning of the first day before it got too cold for my camera to work.
